Job Summary: This position reports to the Director of Infrastructure Services & Security and is responsible for: (1) Managing and monitoring enterprise databases and associated infrastructure operated by ITS, and the services provided via those systems, including configurations, testing, and maintenance (2) Implement and maintain backups, security, and redundancy strategies (3) Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues (4) participates in the Security Incident Response Team, responding to security alerts, addressing vulnerabilities and assisting with investigations and mitigation of ongoing incidents as warranted by the situation.
Responsibilities may include:
– Administration and maintenance of enterprise Oracle databases and the Banner ERP and associated systems
– Ensure Oracle databases are administered properly to ensure efficiency, data integrity, security and availability
– Research and recommend infrastructure to support Oracle and Banner systems
– Develop and execute database development and quality assurance standards and strategies
– Research and provide advice on new system features and technology relative to areas of responsibility that would benefit the university.

Minimum Qualifications: Masters degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelors degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.
Position Qualifications: – Proven working experience as a Database Administrator
– Knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity and SQL
– Familiarity with database design, documentation and coding
– Familiarity with database management best practices
– Experience with database migration, performance tuning, and optimization, and setting up and managing database connections
– Basic linux server administration skills
Preferred Qualifications – Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, computer science, engineering, or related field
– Knowledge of Toad Database Developer Tools (Quest) and/or other SQL Enterprise tools
– Ability to review application codes written by developers to ensure the programming codes comply with security and performance best practices
– Experience with Oracle Database 19c
– Experience with Ellucian Banner ERP system
– Experience with multiple ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) options in Oracle
Essential Functions / Job Duties:
- 10% – As Developer, performs all phases of system development including, but not limited to: requirements gathering, analysis, design, technical documentation, proposal, programming, testing, training, user documentation, deployment and support. – (Essential)
- 40% – As Database Administrator, responsible for analysis, design, management and support of assigned database systems to ensure the integrity and availability of designated database systems. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: systems analysis, design, implementation, maintenance, security and end user training of designated database systems. A DBA is also responsible for establishing policies and procedures pertaining to the management of the database system and stay abreast of emerging technologies and new design approaches. Must typically work independently but cooperate with other systems engineers programmers, and support personnel, plus provide technical support and training as needed to the ITS Support Center. – (Essential)
- 10% – As Project Member, collaborates effectively with the team leader and other team members to understand, accept, and execute their assigned individual tasks that must be successfully executed in order for the entire project to be successful. – (Essential)
- 20% – As Service Manager: responsible for the enhancement, support and maintenance of assigned services of responsibility. The Service Manager establishes and maintains relationships with ITS Partners and clients for assigned services of responsibility, working closely with clients to proactively understand business operations. The Service Manager devises technical solutions to enhance services, evaluates requests for new work to services, and works with stakeholders to identify priorities to ensure time is spent on what is most supportive of UWF and ITS strategic goals and objectives. The Service Manager enlists appropriate internal and external resources as needed to meet required deliverables and dates. – (Essential)
- 20% – This position has specific responsibilities that are vital to the ongoing operation of, and delivery of services from, the Banner system. Those responsibilities include the primary Data Base Administrator for the Banner system and the Oracle Databases on which it relies. Oversight and planning for the installation of all Banner system modules. The administration of the Job Scheduling System (UC4/Appworx) which is used to automate hundreds of Banner scheduled processes. The primary administrator for the eVisions system which is used extensively to communicate to the UWF population via Banner. The primary security administrator for the Banner system. – (Essential)
