Data Support Specialist (Term Position)

The Division of Student and Campus Life, Finance and Operations is looking to hire a full-time temporary Data Support Specialist to assist with implementation of the new financial tool for the division and data integrity/governance orientated change management efforts. This is an excellent opportunity to be a part of a big initiative and get your foot in the door!

The Data Support Specialist supports the Assistant Director of Business Analytics and Reporting by gathering and synthesizing information to support the success of the new financial/reporting management reporting tool, help with system testing, documenting the current/future state of business data-oriented process flows to provide control, oversight and understand the impact of the ongoing modernization effort.  You will also work as an individual contributor providing administrative and project support and collaborate with a cross functional team.

You will also be responsible for helping with testing and training of the new management/financial reporting tool, along with the creating charts and documentation around data lifecycle. You will help build the foundation to maintain data integrity to ensure reporting accuracy and reliability.  You will also work with various Subject Matter Experts from SCL Units to ensure that all controlled documents being created or updated to exhibit important information on process, flow, resource and timelines.

This position is a temporary position with anticipated end date of mid-January 2023 but could change based on business needs. Additionally, while this position is located in Ithaca, New York. The successful applicant can work remotely as appropriate. Please note, the New York Convenience of employer guidelines require New York State individual tax reporting and withholdings for this position. Additional individual state income tax filings may also be required if working temporarily outside New York State.

Success Factors 

A successful Data Support Specialist will:

  • Enjoy working with complex data and data-oriented processes that drive the success of change initiatives
  • Demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills, including the proven ability to work across different audiences, personalities and experience levels
  • Possess effective time management and organizational skills with a high attention to detail
  • Be comfortable working independently as well as collaborating with teammates and other groups
  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills and effectively use remote meeting tools, and has.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field plus at least three years of relevant or full-time work experience. Equivalent combination of education and experiences is acceptable.
  • Previous writing and documentation experience, documenting processes, handbooks, how to guides, etc.
  • Previous system implementation experience preferred
  • Above Average Photoshop, Office 365 and PowerPoint skills. Experience with process flow tools, like Visio, Luicid is preferred.
