The Center for Multimodal Imaging and Genetics (CMIG) is a multi-disciplinary group of scientists, programmers, and support staff that plays a leading role in several national and multinational initiatives involving the collection and analysis of imaging, genetic, and behavioral data from healthy controls and patient populations.

CMIG serves as the data core for two large-scale longitudinal studies with developmental populations, funded by the NIH. The Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) study follows ~12,000 children with longitudinal neuroanatomical, functional imaging, and behavioral assessments across 21 sites within the US. The major goals of the study are to provide a publicly available data resource to examine the relationships between environmental influences — including substance use — and adolescent brain and cognitive development. The Healthy Brain and Child Development (HBCD) Study is a large-scale longitudinal study of the brain, cognitive, and emotional development that will follow mothers and their children from before birth through the first decade of life. The project will involve over 7,000 families at 25 sites across the United States and aims to better understand which harmful and protective environments exert the greatest impact on child development.

Reporting to and assisting the Associate Director for Data Science & Management, the Technical Project Manager will be an integral part of a team of research professionals providing service and support to several large-scale research studies, especially the HBCD and ABCD studies. The incumbent will be primarily responsible for coordinating and overseeing the diverse tasks and deliverables of the group which range from technical support for end users over the development and continuous improvement of data capture instruments, data processing and analysis routines, and data products (e.g., software solutions; web applications/dashboards) to the curation and release of the multimodal datasets originating from the studies. They will help analyze and plan requests and requirements in reference to scheduled projects and assign and oversee the tasks and responsibilities of the technical personnel, actively working toward established milestones. The incumbent will organize and standardize internal processes and documentation and will serve as the conduit to collaborators in other teams at UCSD and other institutions within the US as well as external stakeholders, coordinating and documenting meetings and serving as the main point of contact for communication.

• Four years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area.

• Requires basic knowledge of project management principles, theories, and concepts. Demonstrated understanding of project management processes, strategies and methods.

• Working knowledge of technology-related initiatives and an understanding of impact to the organization of such initiatives.

• Requires ability to assess campus, medical center or Office of the President needs for information technology products and design services to meet those needs.

• Demonstrated capacity to anticipate obstacles and plan for contingencies.

• Broad knowledge of technology-related initiatives and an understanding of impact to the organization of such initiatives.

• Requires effective communication and organization skills.

• Demonstrated attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to determine relevance and prioritize tasks.

• Demonstrated advanced organization and project management skills. Experience with using project management and task tracking software and adapting it to the needs of a given project.Strong time management and organizational skills and experience establishing guidelines in these areas for others.

• Professional Project Management Certification from accredited intuition.
