The Data Product team is one of the five verticals within the newly established Chief Data Office (CDO), part of T. Rowe Price’s Chief Operating Office (COO).  The team is responsible for establishing and leading the firm-wide data product strategy and framework across all aspects of T. Rowe Price’s business.  Data Products are a key pillar of the firm’s overall Data strategy and the team is on the front lines of bringing this strategy to life with business users and data consumer across the enterprise.

As a Data Product Director, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of the mission-critical data products and solutions that drive value for our firm. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including data consumers, data engineers, software developers, and business analysts to define product vision, prioritize features, and drive product development from ideation through delivery and beyond along the product lifecycle. This role requires a strong understanding of data, product management principles, and excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with various teams and stakeholders.

Key Role Responsibilities

  • Product Vision – Define and communicate the vision, goals, and objectives for data products in alignment with overall business strategy.

  • Product Roadmap – Develop and maintain a prioritized roadmap for data product development, considering customer needs and business priorities.

  • Requirements Management – Gather, prioritize, and manage product requirements from stakeholders, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical feasibility.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration – Collaborate with engineering, data science, design, and business teams to drive product development from concept to launch.

  • User Experience – Champion user-centric design principles and ensure that data products meet user needs and deliver an exceptional user experience.

  • Quality Assurance – Define acceptance criteria and standards for data product quality, working closely with Data Governance and Engineering teams to ensure products meet quality standards.

  • Release Management – Coordinate release planning and execution, working with development teams to deliver features on time and within scope.

  • Performance Monitoring – Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the success of data products, continuously monitor performance, and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Stakeholder Communication – Communicate product updates, milestones, and challenges to stakeholders at all levels of the organization, ensuring transparency and alignment.

  • Risk Management – Identify potential risks and dependencies, develop mitigation strategies, and proactively address issues to ensure successful product delivery.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s Degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience 

  • 10+ years of overall relevant experience, ideally in the Asset Management or related industry 

  • Proven experience in a product or data management related role

  • Strong understanding of data concepts including tools, governance, operations, modeling, architecture and other data related principles

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and inspire cross-functional teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage competing demands and tasks in a demanding environment.

  • Analytical mindset with a focus on data-driven decision-making.

  • A thorough understanding of data governance principles, frameworks and methodologies, and experience applying them in the real world all stages of the data lifecycle.

Work Flexibility

This role is eligible for remote work up to two days a week.
