Thirdwave is seeking a Data Engineer to join our growing team. Our ideal candidate is a software engineer first, with deep experience in big data systems, streaming data applications, customer-facing applications, and robust monitoring of live critical path systems.
What You’ll AchieveAs a Data Engineer at Thirdwave, you will work alongside our data and product teams to expand and optimize our data ingestion and data pipeline architecture. You will build and own the architecture of our data ecosystem as we scale our data sources.

- Partner with leadership, engineers, program managers and data scientists to understand data needs
- Design and implement systems that make ingested blockchain data queryable for various data needs for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain analytics tables, ensuring data quality and the business soundness of metrics.
- Leverage data and business principles to solve large scale web, mobile and data infrastructure problems.
- Build data expertise and own data quality for your areas.
About You
- Experienced in developing and delivering data to core products, particularly in environments dealing with real-time data.
- Skilled in discussing service level agreements (SLAs) and monitoring strategies of services you’ve owned.
- Comfortable interacting with various APIs, and raw blockchain queries.
- Fundamental understanding of protocol mechanisms.
- Fast learner, self-starter, go-getter, and intellectually curious.
- Strong communicator with the ability to think about data at scale and beyond individual record levels.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience with designing and managing cloud infrastructure, SQL, and data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery).
- Familiarity with managing monitoring and logging tools such as Datadog, Sentry, etc.
- Skills in building CI and deployment systems, Docker management, AWS Lambda, Typescript, and GraphQL.
- Proven experience in making visualizations and querying large datasets.
- While not required, a demonstrated interest in blockchain through independent research is beneficial.
- Experience in areas such as Lifetime Value Modeling, recommendation modeling, and dealing with ambiguous data from external systems is a plus.
Thirdwave offers a competitive total compensation and benefits package, including equity. Actual salary is dependent upon the individual’s skills, experience and qualifications. Expected range for the salary component for candidates located within the New York is: $149,500—$179,500 USD.
