Department Summary | Information Technology Shared Services (ITSS) is a component of The University of North Texas System. The mission of ITSS is simple: to be the best at delivering customer-aligned IT solutions and services. Our services are provided to all member institutions using an IT shared services governance model. IT Shared Services provides the primary technology used by all campuses to support their operations. These include: shared resources of data centers, computing hardware, software applications, network and voice communications, collaboration and productivity capabilities, central web services, risk management, and security and compliance services. Position Overview | The Data Engineer works closely with clients, data stewards, project/program managers, and other IT teams to turn data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make sound organizational decisions. Responsible for combining business strategy with statistical, mathematical, and predicative modeling knowledge and experience to provide just-in-time congruent and reliable information to their team and customers. Propose innovative and creative ways to look at problems by using data mining (the process of discovering new patterns from large data sets) approaches on the set of information available. |

Preferred Qualifications | The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: * Visualizations tools like Power BI, Tableau etc. * Strong SQL development skills. * Knowledge of Scripting Languages like Python, R, windows Power shell. * Knowledge of Data Modeling. * Knowledge of API Integrations and Data Ingestion processes. * Data Warehouse/Architecture background. * Exceptional communication and attention to detail. * Background in using Lean principles, Agile processes and Kanban tools. |

o | * Works multiple, high impact data research and analysis projects; provides automation, oversight and course corrections as required. |
