Dare to be Deadly Accommodation Scholarship
The Dare to Be Deadly Accommodation Scholarship assists regional and remote Indigenous students from low income backgrounds with expenses associated with relocating for the purpose of undertaking internal studies at CQUniversity.
Scholarships are available for students living at CQUniversity Student Residential Colleges in Mackay or Rockhampton or in private accommodation near any CQUniversity regional campus.
Scholarship Value: $4,000-$6,000

To be eligible for a Dare to be Deadly Accommodation Scholarship applicants must:
- Be enrolled or intending to enrol at CQUniversity in Term 1, 2022
- Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and provide Confirmation of Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander Identity document OR 2 x Cultural References with a Statutory Declaration
- Be enrolled in any of the following courses:
- STEPS
- Higher Education Diploma
- Associate degree
- Bachelor (with or without Honours)
- Postgraduate course in an area of National Priority (currently Nursing and Education) or as required for initial registration to practice in the chosen field
- Be enrolled as at Census Date in Term 1, 2022
Preference is given to students who:
- are from regional and remote areas of Australia, or
- are able to demonstrate the need for financial assistance to meet university costs
Students will be ineligible if they:
- have already completed the requirements of a course of study (with any provider) regarded to be equivalent to or higher than a bachelor’s award, unless such award is a prerequisite to your current undergraduate course of study
- are in receipt of a Centrelink Relocation Scholarship
Applicants will be assessed based on an application form and a written submission of no more than 250 words addressing the following:
“How will a CQUniversity Scholarship assist with your studies?”
Additional Information
Applicants who are receiving a Services Australia (Centrelink) Relocation Scholarship must declare this at the time of application as it may impact on eligibility.
Eligible applicants may receive both a D2BD Scholarship and D2BD Accommodation Scholarship at the same time where they meet the criteria for both.
The Scholarships Team are unable to provide updates to students on the progress of their individual application until all assessments are completed.
Applications must include all necessary supporting documents. Incomplete applications cannot be considered. Applicants will need to supply the following supporting documentation:

- Confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Identity Documents. Please see FAQ for more information.

Complete applications must be received by 10 am AEST on the closing date. Please ensure all supporting documents are attached to the application as incomplete applications will not be considered.
Students will be notified of the outcome of their application via their student email accounts only. Decisions are final.

The Indigenous Student Success Scholarship Program is a Commonwealth funded program to help students take on the demands of university and succeed. Dare to be Deadly Scholarships are prioritised towards the support of Indigenous students who are financially disadvantaged and/or from remote and regional areas.
