UNESCO Dhaka is implementing a project with three main components: (1) A rapid assessment of the impact on heritage and creative industries; (2) The development of an action plan for recovery and safeguarding of cultural assets; and (3) A social media campaign to raise awareness of the importance of protecting cultural heritage in emergencies.

The Consultant will play a central role in managing the implementation of the project on the ground. The position will ensure effective coordination between implementing partners, national stakeholders, and international experts. The Consultant will also monitor the research process, oversee contract and budget management, and ensure that UNESCO’s standards for project visibility and operational integrity are met.

The  Consultant is responsible for the overall coordination, field-level implementation (mainly Dhaka and Mymensingh), and monitoring of project activities. The Consultant will work closely with national researchers, government partners, and implementing organizations to ensure the timely execution of the project while maintaining high-quality standards. Additionally, the Consultant will manage contracts, financial activities, and logistics, including travel and accommodation for international experts.

Responsibilities:

The Consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Project Implementation and Coordination
  • Field Management: Coordinate and oversee the implementation of the project’s components in the field, ensuring that activities are executed according to the project timeline and deliverables in close consultation with the implementing partners.
  • Partner Liaison: Serve as the primary contact point between UNESCO Dhaka, national researchers, and implementing partners. Ensure smooth collaboration and coordination throughout the project.
  • Government Relations: Arrange and manage meetings with government agencies, including the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the Department of Archaeology, and other stakeholders, to facilitate data collection and consultations.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Cultural Heritage Management, Social Sciences, International Development, Anthropology, Archaeology, Anthropology, Arts, or a related field.
