About the Project
As part of the CSIRO Next Generation Quantum Graduates Program (NGQGP), multiple PhD scholarships are available for domestic students to study with ARC Centre of Excellence in Quantum Biotechnology (QUBIC) researchers and their industry partners on projects spanning quantum physics, biophysics, biology, chemistry and the humanities.
QUBIC students do research at the interface of quantum technologies and life science, to drive innovation across manufacturing, clean energy, agriculture, health and national security.
Selection Criteria
Demonstrate outstanding academic achievement in one or more of the following fields: optics, quantum physics, biophysics, biology, or chemistry. Possess a working knowledge of physics, biology, and computational methods, which would be beneficial for the project.
Have a background or knowledge in microscopic imaging, cell biology, biophysics, and chemistry, which is highly desirable for the research.
Provide evidence of relevant research experience in the above-mentioned fields, such as laboratory work, internships, or research projects.
Highlight any contributions to research publications, presentations, or collaborations.
Eligibilty
Applicants must be a domestic student – either Australian permanent residents or New Zealand citizens. To be eligible for this applicantion, applicants must have completed a UTS recognised degree in
• MSc Research or MSc Coursework with a research thesis of at least 6 months,
• or Bachelor Honours degree with 1st Class, or 2nd Class Division 1, or division 1 honours, or an equivalent or higher qualification,
• or submitted other evidence of general and professional qualifications that demonstrates potential to pursue graduate research studies.

Industry placement
This opportunity includes a 6-month internship with a QUBIC industry partner, and professional development training program delivered alongside the PhD.
