Job Description

Flexible work options:

  • Alternative work schedules can include four, 10-hour workdays in a workweek; a nine-day, 80-hour schedule over two workweeks for exempt employees only; and staggered start and stop times.
  • Hybrid work is an arrangement where employees spend a minimum of 60% of their regular workweek at their primary ASU work location. Dean or vice president-level approval is required.
  • Full remote work is an arrangement where the employee spends every workday at a site other than a regularly assigned ASU work location. This arrangement should only be granted when the criteria in the flexible work arrangement policy are met. Executive vice president-level approval is required.

The position examines and evaluates academic records/credentials of students applying for admission to university. Determines if a student meets established academic requirements. Performs various data entry and clerical duties in order to maintain accurate student records.

Essential Duties

  • Evaluates, certifies and processes credentials for students applying for university admission; ensures authenticity of documents and that requirements have been met using established admission policies and guidelines.
  • Reviews and verifies transcripts received; checks and converts credits to semester system as needed; determines transferability and equivalencies of courses based on course descriptions; checks for repeat courses.
  • Applies functional knowledge to analyze and respond to matters requiring comprehensive knowledge of department policies and procedures, research and interpretation of a variety of information levels; uses critical thinking to determine when exceptions to policy are needed and to analyze unique problems.
  • Responds to inquiries from students, departments or general public by telephone, in person or via email regarding application status or related department procedures; provides information as requested or routes inquiries to appropriate departments.
  • Evaluates high school and college courses according to the Arizona Board of Regents competency requirements.
  • Maintains computerized student files by entering updates and/or deleting records as required.
  • Processes admission applications; major changes for undergraduate admissions; enters information in the student database system.
  • Performs various clerical functions in order to maintain files, process paperwork, prepare reports and fulfill information requests.
  • Participates in special projects with team members as directed.
  • Assists with specialized or complex work processes as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of general clerical or related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Working Environment

Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds. Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions. Job activities require knowledge and ability to learn various computer programs.
