This position is located in Crawford County, Ohio.  

The Ohio State University Extension (OSUE) seeks an Agriculture and Natural Resources (ANR) Educator to work collaboratively with county, area and state teams of OSUE professionals and with local agency leaders and volunteers. The Extension Educator, ANR in Crawford County will provide overall leadership to developing and conducting a proactive applied research and education program in agriculture and natural resources to meet current and future needs in emerging issues and state-mandated rules such as nutrient and manure management, crop production, livestock production, farm management, succession planning, niche markets, and timber industry. 

The Educator will plan, teach, deliver, disseminate, and evaluate educational programs and applied research on relevant local issues using innovative educational methods to adults and/or youth. The Educator may be required to replicate and adhere to existing programs that meet the needs of the local community. The Educator will be responsible for a broad range of basic to complex duties that could include but are not limited to: Maintaining a high level of visibility and facilitate communications with a wide range of clientele to promote understanding of agriculture and natural resource issues; Maintain a program of individual professional improvement in selected subject areas; Ensure diversity among potential clientele and learners and equal access to programs and facilities; Providing guidance and/or leadership for Agriculture and Natural Resources programming targeted to local and area needs. The Educator will maintain OSU Unger Farm conducting yearly agronomy research and maintaining the 52 acre farm for agronomy research and horticulture fruit demonstrations. The educator will work closely with other educators in the North central area of the state and state specialist. The Educator will work closely with local advisory committees, commodity groups, and volunteers to conduct needs assessment and priority setting to determine emphasis of education programs. The Educator will strengthen the partnership with local school based vocational agriculture programs. Approximately 10% of the Educator’s time will be dedicated to statewide issues (required). The Educator will participate in shared stewardship responsibilities that assist county administrative duties and may be responsible for securing external funds to support local programming. The Educator will serve as an educational advisor and liaison for OSUE and The Ohio State University with federal, state and local agencies and educational institutions at the local community level. The Educator will participate as a member of county, multi-county, and/or state Extension teams to further the overall mission, vision and values of both Ohio State University Extension and Agriculture and Natural Resources.
