Position summary: Assisting in the coordination of all aspects of the Indigenous Field Studies course including assisting the in the development of course activities, contacting potential speakers from the community, finding appropriate venues for diverse activities, organising camp sites, acting as liaison with community members leading up to and during the field week, assisting with the payment of fees and honoraria, and organising gifts for speakers.

Qualifications: The successful candidate will have the following qualifications

  • Graduate degree in related field
  • In-depth knowledge of the community in Kanehsatake including relationships with community stakeholders
  • Knowledge of Indigenous history, policy and social realities

Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of the following:

  • Indigenous cultures and worldviews, with a particular emphasis on Iroquoian teachings;
  • Indigenous customs, values and ways of life;
  • The intergenerational effects of colonization and Canadian policies on contemporary Indigenous society; and,
  • Holistic approaches to learning about Indigenous culture through physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual component
