Teaching Qualification Requirements:

  • Education
    Master’s degree in music theory required, completed or in-progress PhD in music theory preferred

  • Experience
    Teaching experience in university-level music theory required, preferably as course lecturer or instructor of record. Specific experience teaching expanded harmonic resources of the 19th century (including advanced chromaticism) and analysis of characteristic small and large forms is preferred .

  • Other
    Expert knowledge of 19th-century repertoire, composers, and compositional/analytical techniques. Strong keyboard and musicianship abilities.
