Curriculum and Instruction: Management, effective team leadership, group dynamics, and communications skills crucial to First Nations and Inuit community-based educational leaders. Differences between traditional and mainstream institutional practices and leadership skills.

Teaching Qualification Requirements:
Education:
Master educator with an MA in a relevant field (leadership studies, educational studies, curriculum and instruction, social sciences, social movements, group dynamics)
PhD or equivalent in a relevant field is an asset
Experience:
Expert knowledge of:
– wide range of different theories and approaches to leadership and team building
– community-based research and action research (including but not limited to YPAR, PAR, CBPAR)
– adult learning theories and team dynamics theories
Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) at the undergraduate level
Leadership experience with relevant organizations
Other:
Knowledge of the impact and proven record integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity and inclusion
Familiarity using myCourses, ZOOM and other similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiences
Familiarity teaching blended classes is an asset
Familiarity with the application of a variety of digital teaching and learning tools

The candidate shall submit her application in writing, in hard copy or electronically to the Department Chair, indicating, in order of preference, on the form reproduced in Appendix 11 the Courses in which she is interested and the number of Courses she wishes to give, during the posting period specified in article 15.04 a).

Please note that given the resumption of in-person teaching activities, most courses will be taught in person. Exams may however need to be administered remotely depending, mainly on the size of the class. Course Lecturers will be required to plan accordingly. Should government restrictions prohibit the resumption of in person teaching, courses will revert to remote teaching. In the event of such a change, Course Lecturers will be advised without delay. Course Lecturers may be required to prepare and deliver teaching material suited to a remote/online teaching environment using a virtual learning platform [e.g., Zoom, WebEx] and the McGill myCourses learning management system. Training and assistance on remote teaching is available through Teaching and Learning Services (TLS) . Course Lecturers are encouraged to record their lectures.
