The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center has a great opportunity for a Courier. The Clinical Research Laboratory Services Courier delivers various kinds of documents, packages, and messages between offices or departments. This position also travels to off-site locations when necessary to complete assigned deliveries. This position supports all SCCC locations that conduct research.  The role assists in the logistical support for 300 sponsored industry clinical trials and 85 NCI Network studies as well as all laboratory supplies and equipment. 

Primary Responsibilities:

Responsible for assisting Inventory Project Coordinators and Sr. Manager of Business Operations with the quality control of research kits prepared for daily delivery. Pick-up and drop-off of research samples on medical campus from UHT and drop off to SCCC Central Research Lab.

Other Labs and sample collection sites on campus Picks up and drops off pathology samples for Central Research lab Picks up and drops off samples to BSSR and other SCCC Shared Resources

Collect time-sensitive specimens from inpatient and outpatient units Transport samples from the Kendall and Lennar locations to Miami as needed Prepare delivery of daily and weekly shipments via shuttle system to 9 network sites.

Ensures the safeguarding of inventory contents by applying procedures and protocols for proper storage.

Assists Manager with oversight of stock item master, identifying incorrect descriptions and stock numbers.

Manages specimen chain of custody for the pick-up and drop-off of samples to the Miami Lab and ensures timely delivery of samples within required timeframes.

Manages pick up and drop off logs to ensure chain of custody requirements are met.

Supports role of Sr. Research Assistant with kit pick-up and delivery.

Assists with sample shipping preparation at Miami Main, UHT and New Cancer Research Building location.

Pick-up, review received inventory, matching of requisitions to delivery tickets and delivery of supplies for research lab.

Assists with the distribution of requests for supplies from Network Sites.

Handles and prepares dry ice for distribution to 10 Network sites.

Distributes shipper boxes for lab shipments daily.

Pick up and drop off kits for add-ons, and appointments made with less than 24-hour notice. 

Picks up lab samples in required format for the official transport of biological samples.

Assists with scheduling and pick up arrangements with Fedex and UPS as needed, as well as other carriers used by sponsors for supply delivery.

Assists the Sr. Manager of Business Operations with other projects as needed.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Certification and Licensing: Valid State of Florida driver’s license

Experience: Minimum 1year of relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills and Ability: Ability to understand and follow instructions. Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail. Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion. Ability to operate a motor vehicle. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
