Full time, 12 month fixed term role with flexible working arrangements
Salary between $111,966 to $126,271 + 17% Superannuation
About the opportunity
As a Counsellor, you will work within the Student Counselling Services of the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Education portfolio. You will deliver one-to-one psychological counselling to University students, develop group workshop programs, deliver training programs and liaise with the administrative and faculty arms of the University.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
report to the Counselling Services Team Lead, and work in a team of counsellors (psychology, social worker and counselling backgrounds)
deal with specific concerns of students, including students from equity groups & international students
plan, design, implement and evaluate outreach programs and project work within an academic context
contribute to Quality Assurance mechanisms by keeping relevant statistics and collating data
cultivate appropriate relations with internal service providers, administrative and faculty arms
contribute to professional development activities, supervision, and staff meetings
provide appropriate crisis intervention as needed, including liaison with University security personnel, local area Mental Health teams, and external psychological service providers.
About you
tertiary qualifications in Clinical Psychology and/or relevant post degree experience in a clinical role
registered with the appropriate association as a psychologist, clinical psychologist, social worker or mental health nurse
a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) or willingness to obtain one
core competencies in mental health assessment and management using evidence-based interventions
expertise in the assessment and treatment of a wide range of biopsychosocial problems
commitment to best-practice short-term interventions within stepped-care wellbeing and student experience framework
mandarin, Hindi, Arabic, Vietnamese, Indonesian and/or Korean language skills are highly desirable.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
