Part-time (33.25 hr pw) term-time – Indefinite

The Opportunity

This post represents an exciting opportunity to join a team of staff in Keele University’s Student Services Directorate. Student Accessibility and Inclusion is a newly formed team with existing experienced team members including Senior Counsellors, Counsellors, Disability Advisors, Administrators, Mental Health Advisors and Triage Officers.

The Post holder will work alongside colleagues and the Head of Student Accessibility and Inclusion as part of the broader Student Services team to help shape this new service in supporting students.

The role holder will assess and deliver short term confidential counselling/psychotherapy interventions to students with a broad base of presenting problems. They will contribute to the development of workshops, events and training sessions.

Counsellors support Senior Counsellors in initial assessments including determining the severity and/or urgency of psychological and emotional need. Working alongside colleagues both internal and external to the service in order to assess risk, reducing the level of potential risk and refer to the Senior Counsellor or external services as appropriate.

The post holder will be expected to have a First Degree and a Diploma in Counselling/Psychotherapy, accredited by BACP, UKCP or BABCP (or working towards). They will also need experience of assessing and working psychotherapeutically with a broad base of presenting problems as well as delivering training/group sessions alongside colleagues.
