| Position Summary | The Coordinator for Research Administration provides operational and administrative support to the Senior Associate Dean of Research and other faculty and staff in the College of Medicine as requested. This position is responsible for tracking research proposals submitted by CMED faculty, staff, and students from proposal to completion and publication. This position is also responsible for the coordination of all research programs including but not limited to symposiums and the summer scholar program. Maintains complex databases and provides regular reports to units within CMED on various items related to the scholarly activity of faculty, staff, and students. |
| Required Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree in public health, education, communications or another related field. Two years of relevant experience with increasing responsibilities. Proficient with spreadsheet and database software programs. Demonstrated organizational skills and strong attention to detail. Ability to plan, establish priorities, and handle multiple tasks and projects. Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively. Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. |
| Preferred Qualifications | SAP or other grant management software experience. Experience working with faculty and/or academic departments on financial and administrative matters. Experience in a higher education setting. Experience working with externally funded grants and contracts. Experience with clinical and non-clinical IRB processes and requirements. |
| Duties & Responsibilities | Supports the Senior Associate Dean/Research and Senior Associate Dean/Legal and Compliance with the administration of research activities, events, and IRB processes. Provides administrative support for the Senior Associate Dean, Research. Provides expertise, analysis, and assistance to CMED faculty, students, and staff in the management of research events and administration. Serves as a resource to other internal/external research project personnel. Assists leadership with project management plans and maintains project schedules. Organizes and participates in internal and external project workgroup(s), committee(s), and/or advisory meetings or teleconferences. Coordinates communication on behalf of senior leadership and related functions. Conducts special projects and assignments as directed; collects, compiles, and writes updates and reports on findings, including preparation of preliminary findings for leadership as needed. Manages and coordinates research events including, but not limited to, the research symposium, student research forum, and the summer scholars’ program. Organizes, analyzes, and tracks expense budgets, and initiates forms for student reimbursement. Tracks and assists faculty and students with the initiation and dissemination of medical student research stipends and transactions. Works with faculty and staff to assist with the completion of various forms, policies, and procedures required for CMED research events and activities. Maintains and provides analysis of several databases of scholarly activity; provides regular and ad-hoc reports for the Dean’s office, departments, and/or faculty. Documents and updates processes, guidelines, and CMED research reference materials for training purposes and continuity of services. Other duties as assigned. |
