JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Beaver seeks a creative full-time Assistant Athletic Director (AAD) as a critical team member, leader, and collaborator within our vibrant department and campus community. This individual should be organized, motivated, and committed to the Penn State Diversity Equity and Inclusion mission.  Prior experience working in a collegiate athletics department and facilities management is preferred. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to recruit, motivate, support, and develop student athletes. Prior coaching experience is a plus in consideration for the position. The Assistant Director will demonstrate a commitment to the high academic standards and policies of PSUAC and USCAA. The AAD will serve as a unit leader and foster a positive attitude working with student athletes, faculty, staff, and stakeholders. The ADD manages multiple projects and must be able to multi-task and have strong time management skills. 

Job Responsibilities

Works with Admissions, coaches, recruits to coordinate athlete recruitment using software to track recruits.

Provides support for athlete retention efforts working with student athlete liaison and other campus stakeholders.

  • Supervises and supports students, employees, operations, services, facilities, varsity competitions/practices, and camps. 
  • Coordinates external community engagement and community service.
  • Develops and supports wellness offerings, facilities, programs, and services for the campus community. Assesses equipment needs and develops proposals for funding and equipment.
  • Oversees the Wellness Center, Game Room, intramural and recreational programs and events. Advises Game Room and Varsity Clubs.
  • Works with the Athletic Director to provide relevant training for Wellness Center and other employees. Develops and updates student employee handbook
  • Oversees elements of human resource support for the athletic department using Workday. 
  • Supports and develops relevant summer camps and clinics.
  • Assists with gameday management and set up.
  • Ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and records.
  • Provides reports and ensures standards of quality in services and equipment.
  • Monitors and reports safety concerns.
  • Articulates and develops unit work and support needs.
  • Ensuring compliance with processes, procedures, and policies.  
  • Position requires working some evenings and weekends. 
  • Additional duties as required.  

Education/Qualifications: Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or higher and four plus years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to Clearances.
