Job Description:

Budget Title: Student Activities Associate (SL-2)

Salary: $47,000

The Coordinator for New Student Programs at Binghamton University will serve as a member of the Orientation team whose responsibilities include designing and implementing an Orientation program for families as they transition into Binghamton University as well as provide support to New Student Programs through managing the day-to-day operations. A successful candidate will need to have outstanding verbal and written communications skills, be organized and have the ability to work in a fact paced work environment. 

Duties of this position include: 

  • Assist the Director for New Student Programs with the recruitment, training and supervision of undergraduate Summer Staff and Summer Office Assistants
  • Assist the Director for New Student Programs with design, implementation and evaluation of the family Orientations, including summer, fall, and spring Orientations:

               o Serve as primary contact for on campus offices including Auxiliary Services, Health and Counseling and Financial Services; and coordinate their involvement in Orientation
o Develop and implement program sessions for families
o Develop and implement assessment plan

  • Assist the Director with the management of the Orientation budget, including purchasing items and processing payments and refunds
  • Provide support for general office management including answer phone calls and process work orders
  • Serve as the chapter advisor for Phi Eta Sigma, the national honor society for first-year student
  • Support New Student Programs with additional programs and events throughout the academic year including the annual B-Photo and New Student Picnic


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • One year of post-undergraduate experience
  • Experience working in a University setting
  • Excellent administrative, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work autonomously in a team atmosphere
  • Able to work well in a diverse setting that includes faculty, staff, and students
  • Visa Sponsorship is not available for this position

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Student Affairs or related field
  • Working knowledge of Banner, OmniUpdate, and VZOrientation
