Coordinator, Mindful Campus Prevention, Mindful Campus Initiative (MCI)

Reporting to the Project Manager, Mindful Campus Initiative the Coordinator, Mindful Campus Prevention is responsible for the coordination of the Mindful Campus Initiative, a new mental health initiative for students at OCAD University (OCAD U).  Working closely with the Project Manager and Lead, Mindful Campus Prevention, this position supports the successful execution of the grant and the implementation of mindfulness across OCAD U.  

The Mindful Campus Initiative (MCI)—led by OCAD University—is an essential response to the mental health impact of the pandemic on post-secondary students. Implemented by a collaborative pan-Canadian network of post-secondary art and design schools and faculties—and in partnership with the Centre for Mindfulness Studies—MCI will lift the mental health and well-being of Canada’s post-secondary students, through a coherent set of prevention and promotion programs.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate delivery of Online and Live Mindfulness for Resilience program, including maintaining program calendar and animating program space 

  • Coordinate OCAD U Live development and delivery of digital mindfulness program, Everyday Mindfulness and Get Real Mindfulness  

  • Provide writing, copywriting and proofreading services of MCI learning materials and publications for project team

  • Develop and implement a program delivery calendar and content plans for program promotion, and liaise with internal stakeholders regarding program content, image submissions and source images while meeting dissemination timelines

  • Document delivery of prevention programs for reporting purposes; develop excel tracking tools, provide monthly updates and track delivery metrics in an ongoing way

  • Collaborate with Marketing & Communications to promote student storytelling 

  • Maintain the OCAD U MCI style guide and update it regularly

  • Provide wrap around support to OCAD U’s Student Wellness Centre and its programs, as well as completing other duties as assigned

  • Support the Project Manager, Mindful Campus Initiative and MCI staff in other related duties that contribute to the successful operations of the new mental health initiative

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary diploma in a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a similar environment, preferably with direct experience within a post-secondary educational institution, communications and/or administration

  • Exceptional writing, copywriting, and proofreading skills with strong knowledge of the Canadian Press style, demonstrated attention to detail, and strong oral communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to develop learning materials

  • Demonstrated experience in writing materials to meet AODA requirements, familiarity with AODA requirements and standards for writing accessible materials

  • Research, analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Maturity, flexibility and excellent interpersonal, communication, and organization skills with strong attention to detail

  • Ability to take initiative and work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Genuine interest in the young adult population and demonstrated compassion for the care of people experiencing distress

  • Proven track record of high level of judgement and discretion, maintaining confidentiality, and strong customer service

  • Strong computer skills with a knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, database management and well-developed internet research skills

  • Personal mindfulness practice and training in mindfulness based practices an asset

  • Demonstrated commitment to the principles of equity and diversity and experience promoting a respectful work and learning environment for students, staff and faculty

Compensation: $25.97 to $29.70 per hour commensurate with experience, plus 4% vacation pay and 7% in lieu of benefits. The successful incumbent has the option of pay in lieu or enrollment in benefits
Hours of Work:  Monday to Friday, for a total of 35 hours per week. This is a temporary contract expected to continue until March 31, 2024.

The incumbent in this role will be expected to report to work on campus.
