Position Title COORDINATOR/LEARNING SYSTEMS SUPPORT
Position Summary Assist and provide administrative support to the Associate Director/Learning Systems Support as well as aid with oversight and support of web and web-supplemented course functionalities and systems on a university-wide basis. This includes use-case monitoring, knowledge-base development, design/development of education technology support services/resources, and user-training/development as well as providing second-tier end-user support/troubleshooting; interacts with other internal and external personnel, instructional designers, and media/web developers. Responsible for resolving system issues for end users, including a comprehensive understanding of the platform and applied functionality. Lends guidance and input to OIT administrators on tool/application configuration and feature availability, inter-system dependencies, and practice impacts from system changes and upgrades. Aids in system testing and test planning, determining impact of system upgrades and related changes and need for corresponding communications and training needs. Assists subject matter experts with the creation and configuration of materials (e.g. documents, assignments, rubrics, assessments, interactive components) for course development and management.
Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in Information Technology, Instructional Technology or related field.
Experience with web conferencing software (e.g., WebEx, Microsoft Teams).
Technically competent with demonstrated Blackboard LMS application and knowledge and the ability to research and resolve complex technical issues.
Ability to manage multiple systems and projects at any given time.
Ability to learn quickly, meet established deadlines, and demonstrate strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
Ability to gather and analyze user needs along with efficient and expedient resolution of incidents and service requests.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, showing the ability to interact effectively with various user groups, including business and technical teams.
Ability to meet stakeholders at their skill level and coach them to desired abilities.
Demonstrated end-user support/troubleshooting, training/presentation experience, and tutorial/documentation development.
Demonstrated ability to carry out routine administrative details independently.
Demonstrated ability to work and function within a team environment.
Knowledge of various operating systems, file formats, and protocols.
Experience with various web-based learning systems.
Preferred Qualifications Experience in the higher education environment.
Experience with Blackboard SaaS, Original and Ultra Course View.
Experience with add-on products, publisher, and LTI integrations.
Duties & Responsibilities Learning System Support: course conversion merge/modality change processing, special-request shell setup, 2nd level Help Desk liaison, third-party product administration, issue management/tracking.
Training/development activities: facilitating training, knowledgebase development, tutorial review and authoring, emerging technologies exploration, research, and testing.
System Administration: reporting, system use-case monitoring.
Works with OIT staff and vendors to provide seamless support of learning management systems on behalf of end users.
Participates in system testing and test planning to aid in determining the impact of system upgrades and corresponding communications and training needs.
Participates in the implementation of system-level changes in coordination with university partners (e.g. OIT).
Provides guidance, support, and technical advice to faculty in the identification, evaluation, and adaption of third-party software, publisher content, and other educational resources.
Aids in system configuration, feature and tool availability, course settings, restrictions and functionality within the LMS; Researches and monitors use cases and trends.
Contributes to the development of system-level policies and procedures.
Provides support requiring in-depth knowledge of learning system (e.g. Blackboard, WebEx, Respondus, etc.) features, functions, and tools.
Conducts online or face-to-face group and individual training sessions.
Other duties as assigned.
