BASIC FUNCTION:

Work with the executive team of the Graduate school to develop and deploy communications and engagement efforts for the University of Rhode Island’s Graduate School. Lead, sustain, and grow the Graduate School’s website, social media presence, and other digital products. Collaborate with URI’s central marketing team, graduate programs, and graduate student organizations to develop engaging stories, coordinate digital products and messaging, and find ways to engage new and diverse audiences. Create content for public engagement, student recruitment, and Graduate School messaging campaigns.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Write and edit content for the Graduate Schools website, email newsletters, student recruitment campaigns, social media platforms, and printed publications.

Manage website content development, publishing, and maintenance. Work with the Web Team in the Department of Communications and Marketing in meeting web content standards. Work with the Department of Communications and Marketing to meet Brand, marketing, social media, and web content standards.

Use customer relations management (CRM) platforms (e.g., Slate) to develop campaigns for student recruitment, marketing, and both internal and external communications. Use the data from the CRM and other sources to develop innovative, new communication strategies.

Develop and implement social media strategies to engage targeted audiences across multiple social media channels. Plan, coordinate and create content including but not limited to articles, videos, web pages, podcasts, shareable images, etc. Develop and maintain key performance metrics to chart the progress of digital media efforts on a monthly basis. Monitor editorial content on social media platforms and track online activity on a continuing basis to assess audience attitudes and identify emerging issues that drive conversations. Optimize search engine optimization for Graduate School website and digital platforms.

Manage digital content calendar. Independently develop Graduate School content and stories in addition to those assigned by the Graduate School Executive Team. Maintain a high level of understanding of URI Graduate Programs to anticipate future needs.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform other duties as assigned.

LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:

Web publishing, html, web analytics, WordPress, Slate, Google Workspace, Canva, MS Office, image editing software, Instagram, Bluesky, Threads, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, email marketing (e.g., Mailchimp).

Required QualificationsREQUIRED:

1. Bachelor’s degree in communication studies, advertising, marketing, public relations, journalism, writing, digital media production or related field.

2. Minimum three years digital content production and content management experience.

3. Demonstrated strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

4. Demonstrated proficiency in written communications skills.

5. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.

6. Demonstrated experience in Web writing and content development.

7. Demonstrated experience developing and implementing social media campaigns.

8. Demonstrated experience with social media publishing platforms.

9. Demonstrated experience with content management systems (including WordPress).

10. Demonstrated experience using analytics to measure effectiveness.

11. Demonstrated experience in multimedia creation.

12. Demonstrated experience in developing content in collaboration with a diverse set of teams.

Preferred QualificationsPREFERRED:

1. Demonstrated experience implementing search engine optimization (SEO) strategies.

2. Demonstrated experience implementing digital accessibility standards.

3. Demonstrated experience developing and implementing drip and marketing communication campaigns in a Slate CRM.
