Job Description Summary

BASIC FUNCTION:
Reporting directly to the Director, be responsible for coordinating and implementing programs and services tailored to meet the needs of military-affiliated students.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborate with the Director to develop and execute strategies for the recruitment, retention, and support of military-affiliated students.
Provide guidance and support to military and veteran students regarding educational benefits, resources, and academic planning.
Supervise work-study students employed by the MAVE Center as a part of a VA program.
Organize and conduct outreach activities to enhance the visibility of the Center’s services within the university community and among military installations.
Assist the Director in carrying out administrative responsibilities, including budget and finance functions.
Assist in the development of policies and procedures that align with the unique needs of military-affiliated students.
Coordinate with various university departments to ensure seamless integration and access to academic and support services.
Maintain accurate records and data related to military and veteran students for reporting and analysis purposes.
Assist in the planning and execution of special events and activities geared towards military-affiliated individuals.
Generate branding and marketing digital/print material for Center events for communication through the Center’s website, social media accounts, and print publication.
Work with the University printing office and outside vendors to order promotional materials for the Center.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform other duties as required.
LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:
Personal computers, printers; spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software; Social media.
Required QualificationsREQUIRED:
1. Bachelor’s degree.
2. Demonstrated understanding of military educational benefits (e.g., GI Bill®) and resources available to veterans.
3. Demonstrated organizational skills.
4. Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities.
5. Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
6. Demonstrated empathy and understanding of the unique challenges faced by military-affiliated students.
7. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
8. Demonstrated proficiency with written communication skills.
9. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
Preferred QualificationsPREFERRED:
1. Demonstrated experience advising student organizations.
2. Demonstrated website and listserv management skills.
3. Demonstrated experience working with military populations, or in a similar role, within higher education.
