£23,715 – £27,131 per annum (pro-rata for part-time)

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Student Development Team within the Academic Section for a Careers Information Coordinator.

Duties of the Role

The postholder will coordinate and deliver high quality careers information to students to improve engagement in careers services, including but not limited to the development of online and hard copy resources, and promotion of events and workshops.

They will be the first point of call for students and graduates looking for more information about careers services and will help to raise awareness of the support available through a range of engagement and marketing activities.

This is a fixed-term, part-time post working 28.8 hours per week (0.8fte) until 13 October 2023 to cover a period of maternity leave for a permanent member of staff.

Skills and qualifications required

The successful applicant will have an honours degree (or equivalent level qualification or experience) and a relevant careers qualification (or relevant experience) is also desirable.

Additionally, they will have experience of working on a 1:1 basis with clients to offer information in a range of formats, be able to meet set targets and deadlines, have first class time management and organisational skills, and can deal effectively with multiple priorities at the same time.

A flexible approach to work to assist as and when required (e.g. to cover sickness absence) and a willingness to travel to the University’s campuses in Loughton and Southend are essential.

The Academic Section is part of the University’s Professional Services and is headed by the Academic Registrar. The Section is responsible for managing all aspects of student and academic administration in partnership with Departments, Schools and Faculties. It plays a central role in delivering the University’s commitment to excellence in education across the institution through the development and implementation of the University-wide programmes and the development, review and implementation of effective policy in support of the University’s academic mission. The Section is also the guardian of the student experience and leads, promotes and embeds the institutional commitment to putting students at the heart of everything we do.

The Student Life Directorate is part of the Academic Section and encompasses Student Development, Student Wellbeing and Inclusivity, and Student Services; all of which support student progression, success and graduate employability. We are committed to innovation and continuous enhancement within our services and to working collaboratively across all areas of the University, and beyond, for the benefit of our students.

The Student Development service enables an integrated approach towards student skills development, through the delivery of employability and careers services, academic skills support and student engagement expertise, in order to ensure that every student has the skills and experiences necessary for success in securing a good degree outcome and a successful graduate employment outcome.
