Job Summary Bowdoin College is located in Brunswick Maine with a student population of almost 2000. We make everything from scratch and consistently rated in the top 10 for college dining! We have our own butcher shop, bakeshop and organic garden that all supply food to our 2 dining halls and 3 retail locations. This position supports Thorne Dining Hall. Under supervision of the Culinary Manager, Head Chef and Assistant Chef supports production in the kitchen, prepares recipes from scratch, works with industrial size kitchen equipment producing high quality meals.

  • This position offers a $500 sign-on bonus ($250 on first paycheck and $250 after 90 days).
  • Hourly range for this position is expected to be: Minimum $20.00 – Maximum $22.75/ per hour

Education/Skills Requirements Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D. required. Culinary Degree with accompanying experience or 3 years progressive cooking experience required.
Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents A valid Driver’s License and the ability to meet the eligibility requirements of the College’s current Motor Vehicle Use Policy. Serve Safe Certification. Other Experience Requirements: Three years experience in kitchen production required. Demonstrated understanding of basic cooking techniques and their application in catering and/or institutional settings.
Standard Work Days and Hours Varying shifts including occasional overtime, weekends, holidays and during weather emergencies. Required to work during major college events and weekends. This position is an academic-year round position working 40 hours/week for 38 weeks (.73 FTE)
