Contrast Media Researcher – 119408

Under supervision, incumbent will perform a variety of chemical syntheses and analyses, as well as general laboratory duties to support a contrast media research laboratory in the department of Radiology. Individual will be responsible for data collection, data entry, analysis of chemical experiments, as well as syntheses of literature compounds and syntheses developed in the laboratory. Candidate will use standard chemical analysis methods and be able to develop modifications of standard methods to meet special needs.

  • Theoretical knowledge in chemistry and biochemisty

  • Working knowledge of quantitative and qualitative chemical analysis procedures.

  • Skill with handling of radioisotopes for radiochemistry experiments.

  • Skill in ultrafiltration and chromatography

  • Skill in use of PC and computer software. Ease with MS-Windows, database, spreadsheets and word processing.

  • General knowledge of statistical analysis

  • Ability to read scientific manuscripts and articles.

  • Skill in the use of basic laboratory equipment (pH meters, microscopes, balances, pipettes, centrifuges, and other basic equipment

  • Ability to fine tune, maintain, and trouble-shoot chemical analyses equipment.

  • Ability to work independently without close supervision.

  • Interpersonal communication skills to work with a variety of professionals with diverse backgrounds (i.e., medical physicists, radiologists, physicians, surgeons, and imaging technicians).

  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation of solid phase plates for receptor assays.

  • Ability to dilute radiolabeled ligands. Demonstrated skill in the incubation and purification of radioligand-receptor complexes

  • Demonstrated experience in the operation of gamma counter and LIGAND software program

  • Knowledge of the theory of Scatchard analysis.

  • Demonstrated experience in the operation and macroprogramming of SIGMAPLOT software.

  • Experience with analytical high performance chromatography

  • Working knowledge of synthesis, bioconjugate, and chelation chemistries.

  • Demonstrated experience in homogenizing tissue for receptor purification.

  • Experience with preparative high performance chromatography.

  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check.

  • Overtime and weekends may be required
