About This Opportunity
The Contracts Manager is responsible for negotiating and administering research and consulting contracts within the UQCoRE team. This includes project managing consulting and research projects to ensure that risks are adequately managed and maximizing value for the University and the external client.
You will have the chance to build and maintain successful client relationships within UQ and industry and to assist the UQCoRE team in providing effective and efficient front end services for research and consultancy projects across UQ.
Key responsibilities will include:
Contracts administration
- Respond to enquiries, prepare quotes, tenders, proposals, and associated contractual documentation with access to support and guidance from senior colleagues
- Manage projects in line with quality assurance guidelines and project management guidelines
- Review external contracts with the Senior Contracts Manager, UQCoRE
- Advise senior management on project and contract risks and mitigation strategies
- In conjunction with UQ Legal Services (Research), negotiate with external clients in relation to contract terms, focusing particularly on clauses dealing with IP, indemnities, warranties, termination and risk
- Conduct risk assessments on all projects considering scope, budget, terms and deliverables
- Manage subcontracting relationships within UQ researchers, UQ administration staff and third-party clients
Client relationships
- Develop and maintain a network of University/external consultants with the ability to successfully compete for national and international work
- Proactively manage existing clients and researchers for continuing repeat business and sourcing new clients and researchers to assist to meet financial targets
- Closely interact with UniQuest’s IP Commercialisation teams as required
- Assist with seminars and workshops
About You
- Undergraduate qualifications or progress towards tertiary qualifications in engineering, business administration, finance, law, economics or similar discipline relevant to contract management
- At least 4 years relevant industry experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
- Experience in negotiating and managing research and consulting contracts
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in utilising relevant project management tools or equivalent practical methodologies for monitoring project progress.
- Experience in successfully project managing various small to medium projects including effectively managing stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience in contracts administration including contract term negotiations
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide advice and negotiate to achieve desired outcomes
- Experience in a university environment preferred
- Familiarity with the Salesforce platform would be advantageous
What We Can Offer
This is a full-time, continuing (permanent) position at HEW Level 7.
The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $90,538 – $98,719 plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $105,929 – $115,501 per annum.
The following flexible employment options may be available for this role: some working from home; variable start or finish times; compressed hours; purchased leave; flex-time.
