College of Optics and Photonics

CREOL, the College of Optics and Photonics, one of the 13 colleges at the University of Central Florida, offers M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Optics and Photonics and a B.S. degree in Photonic Science and Engineering. The faculty engage in a broad spectrum of research covering all areas of optics and photonics, ranging from fundamental physics to device and systems research. The college has 35 core faculty members, and over 19 faculty members with joint appointments, about 60 research scientists and postdoctoral fellows, and over 130 graduate students and 170 undergraduate students. UCF and its 13 colleges provide opportunities to almost 72,000 students, offering 194 bachelor’s and master’s degrees and 34 doctoral programs. Students come from all 50 states and over 147 countries. The Opportunity

  • Collaborates with principal investigators and others to find applicable funding opportunities to pursue. 

  • Coordinates with university partners to prepare subcontracts that will be included in grant proposals.

Responsibilities: 

Funding Opportunities

  • Develops project budgets and writes budget justifications.

  • Ensures that proposals are accurate, complete, and in full compliance with sponsor and university policies, procedures, and requirements.

  • Provides assistance with interpreting sponsor guidelines and completing college and university forms.

  • Oversees proposal development tasks and timelines.

Grant Proposals

  • Develops and modifies template language for proposals.

  • Assists in developing and coordinating college research workshops.

  • Directs graduate students to complete tasks associated with specific components of a grant proposal.

  • Drafts letters of support, and coordinates and monitors receipt of each required letter.

  • Reviews final proposals for accuracy of tables, figures, and reference citations.

  • Develops and formats content for proposals, e.g., bio sketches, tables, and figures.

  • Assists in preparing reports on grant activity within the college.

Policies and Procedures

  • Interprets and implements university and college policies and procedures.

  • Recommends policies and procedures to improve research administration and helps develop them.

  • Maintains confidential information.

Liaison and Interface

  • Engages with faculty, staff, students, and research partners to achieved objectives

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and 2+ years of relevant experience. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in a related and/or relevant field.
