As NAIT continues to
grow its student body and lead the way in hands-on learning, we are recruiting
skilled and passionate individuals to help inspire and train current and future
industry professionals and become part of Canada’s leading polytechnic.

NAIT’s Automotive Service Technician Program prepares students to
diagnose problems, repair engines, use computer management systems, and adjust
vehicles to operate for peak performance. The program will support students to
work on cars, trucks, and other vehicles performing repairs, conducting
preventative maintenance, and diagnosing faulty systems.

Automotive Service Technician program is currently
recruiting for continuous instructors who are energetic leaders, committed to
student success, and have outstanding communication, interpersonal and
organizational skills. The successful candidates will:

  • have strong technical
    knowledge in Automotive Service.
  • be able to work both
    independently and within a team environment.
  • bring passion,
    enthusiasm, and ideas that will positively contribute to the advancement and
    growth of the program and the culture of our collaborative and dynamic team.

 

Key
Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and present learning outcomes and
    activities in a classroom, laboratory and industry setting
  • Participate in curriculum development,
    program reviews and course reviews
  • Facilitate the learning process by utilizing
    instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course
    materials
  • Manage instructional delivery and set the
    tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment
  • Create assessment tools to evaluate the
    learning process and maintain progress records
  • Provide early and on-going coaching and
    tutoring for students to maximize student success.
  • Respond to student issues
  • Utilize appropriate educational technology
    for presentations, communications and program promotions
  • Maintenance and/or submission of
    program/student records accurately and promptly
  • Maintain professional and ethical
    relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners
  • Utilize regular student feedback to identify
    and implement instructional improvement
  • Improve the quality of instruction through
    professional development activities
  • Instruct in all area’s of the program.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Skills
& Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal Skills
  • Strong desire to help students succeed
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of computers

 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Completion of Automotive Service Technician Alberta
    Journeyperson certificate or provincial equivalent including Inter-Provincial
    Red Seal
  • Minimum 5 years recent industry experience after
    completion of Journeyperson ticket.
  • Teaching experience an asset

 

Remuneration: Instructor
salary grid ranges from $64,994.80 – $113,063.86 annually. However, starting
salary for new hires averages between $78,728.52 – $85,595.38 annually
based on education and experience with room for negotiations. (Classification –
Instructor).

This
position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective
Agreement
