YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

The candidate will be part of a growing, modern, dynamic group of oncoplastic surgeons, who aspire to provide patients with comprehensive surgical options, whilst working cohesively with our dedicated oncologists and specialist radiologists. The applicant should be proactive in assisting career development of our Professional Support Roles, such as our Advanced Nurse Practitioners.

The Breast Unit takes pride in training and supporting the future generation of Oncoplastic Surgeons as part of the Wessex Surgical Rotation, and hosting both a National and International Fellowship Schemes. The candidate is expected to contribute to training and mentoring Surgical Trainees and Fellows during their UHS placements.

The requirement for the service is that we have in place a sustainable, reliable and high-quality service meeting and exceeding national standards. There is no commitment to the General Surgery on-call rota.

The successful candidate will be expected to deliver clinical excellence within the speciality of Breast Surgery and should demonstrate significant experience in diagnosis and screening, Oncoplastic Breast Surgery.  A willingness to learn and work within a constantly changing environment is necessary, together with adaptability to clinical and service requirements. 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Individuals wishing to apply must be fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and should be either already on or within 6 months of eligibility to be included on the specialist register of the GMC.

The successful candidate will be employed under the terms and conditions of service for Consultants (England) 2003.
