Additional information can be found at .Position Description and BackgroundInterAction is soliciting Expressions of Interest (EOI) from consultants to collect case studies and experiences on the implementation of Settlements Approach influenced programs and interventions.InterAction is currently undertaking research and consultations on the status of operationalization of the Settlements Approach in humanitarian contexts. The consultation with humanitarian actors, practitioners, and coordinators and a review of existing literature, policies, and guidance will be published in January 2025. The below-mentioned case study compendium will draw upon field experiences, lessons, and barriers to operationalization.Position TypeConsultancyExpected activities and deliverables
- The consultant will, in collaboration with InterAction and partners, solicit case studies (ongoing and past projects) in humanitarian contexts. The collection of case studies, analysis, and recommendations will support InterAction’s ongoing research and consultation on opportunities and benefits of systemic barriers to operationalizing the Settlements Approach in humanitarian contexts.
- Case studies and analysis will stem from complete projects and lessons, humanitarian practitioners’ experiences and perspectives, a brief analysis of humanitarian literature, multi-sectoral coordination efforts, donor policies and funding, and other related initiatives.
- It is expected that a minimum of 10 case studies will be collected, in addition to other relevant materials, with at least 5 case studies in long form. The selected consultant and InterAction will agree on the final presentation format, analysis, executive summary formats, and length. The case studies and related contents must reflect multisectoral humanitarian assistance beyond Shelter and Settlements and CCCM sector efforts.
Qualifications
- Significant field experience in the humanitarian sector
- Good understanding of the humanitarian architecture, multiple country contexts, coordination, and humanitarian funding and policies.
- Prior work in analyzing, developing, and researching the Settlements Approach is highly preferred
- Direct links to humanitarian practitioners and coordinators on the ground and globally
CompensationIt is expected that the work will extend over a period of a few months, with approximately 15 working days. The consultant should be available from November 2024 to December 2024. All timelines are subject to change based on mutual agreements.
