In 2019, UNFPA launched the Culture Initiative – an organization-wide exercise to promote culture change and internalize the UNFPA aspirational culture as defined by the key principles of trust and respect, belonging, commitment and accountability, team spirit, and innovation (Our Principles). Since then, several key actions have been implemented to help foster this culture change. This includes a series of all staff Change Dialogues, a toolkit on organisational culture, a Culture Award, and a course on organisational culture.To complement these key actions, UNFPA is seeking a consultancy to support the development of a ready-to-use standard package of team activities tailored to promote the UNFPA aspirational culture and intended for use by teams in UNFPA country offices, regional offices, and at headquarters.As it would be the responsibility of the individual offices/units/teams themselves to facilitate and conduct the activities, the activities should be accompanied by detailed instructions for the facilitator, an overview of materials needed, and templates as needed, etc. The package of activities should be developed in a way that gives teams a high degree of flexibility in terms of when, where, and how to conduct the activities – e.g., as a full one-day programme or as individual, shorter sessions in the context of existing team meetings, and in virtual or physical
settings. Ideally, the package would include:
1) Ice-breakers;
2) A catalogue of team activities that are relevant to Our Principles;
3) Options for an end-of-day deliverable, e.g., a compact of commitment related to culture, to
guide the teams’ culture journey going forward.The final package would be hosted on the website of the UNFPA toolkit on organisational culture (an internal page accessible to all UNFPA personnel).The consultant will work under the guidance of the Corporate Performance and Foresight Unit (CPFU) team to develop the package of activities.
