Description
The School of Natural Resources at West Virginia University is searching for a M.S. student to conduct a genomic assessment of reintroduced elk in West Virginia. Next-generation sequencing will be used to compare the reintroduced elk to the source populations that were used and to assess adaptive differences between the two groups. Parentage analysis will also be conducted on calves born in West Virginia. Funding will be supplied through a research assistantship for two years. Qualifications
B.S. in wildlife, fisheries, biology, or related field. Minimum GPA of 3.25. Lab experience in genetic techniques and extensive coursework in wildlife and fisheries highly desired.
