All About You
This position will be responsible for base pay administration processes while working closely with our Human Resources partners to support business leaders through the design, implementation, communication, and administration of compensation programs that support a pay for performance and total rewards compensation philosophy. This position takes a leadership role in driving the Compensation function and influencing pay practices across the University. Under administrative direction, manages base pay administration, compensation initiatives and procedures; ensures electronic processes are monitored and accurate; interacts with human resources staff to provide support and guidance; ensures compliance with federal regulations; manages activities associated with job analysis, compensation planning, design, and administration; prepares reports.
JOB DUTIES:
25% – Design, communicate, implement, and administer compensation programs, including broad-based and incentive initiatives. Drives annual merit planning activities and supports ad hoc department pay plans. Reviews existing compensation processes and recommends creative ways to enhance efficiencies and drive consistency. Supports training of Compensation materials.
20% – Partner with HR Consultants, Recruiting and business leaders to understand compensation needs. Provide consultation to various topics, including interpretation of compensation programs and practices, job evaluations, job descriptions, job profiles, salary placement and drives necessary analysis and packaging of recommendations.
20% – Monitor and address compensation department e-mail box and Workday transaction queue. Follows up in a timely manner to meet standard Service Level Agreements.
15% – Perform job evaluations to ensure proper FLSA designation, job grade, market pricing recommendations and sound job descriptions are in line with best practices and DOL regulations. Ensure compliance with federal regulations and participates on compliance committees as needed.
15% – Lead the research, selection, and participation in salary surveys to ensure maximum ROI. Analyze and monitor compensation programs to ensure they are competitive, compliant, cost effective, align with business goals and support the university’s compensation strategy. Identify trends and drive sound compensation decisions. Recommend changes in practices to ensure pay remains competitive and internal equity is maintained
5% – Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Solid understanding of current compensation best practices and pulse on evolving practices.
Advanced level ability to accurately research, compile and synthesize information, draw conclusions, and recommend solutions.
Skilled in Microsoft applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) to analyze, prepare and present importation compensation information
Highly collaborative team player who proactively drives process improvements.
Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work across teams and business units to lead discussions, influence, negotiate and build consensus.
Builds trust effectively at all levels of management and peers.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Ability to effectively manage a variety of projects.
Experience with Workday HCM
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Human Resources or other related field required
5+ years of HR experience with a demonstrated emphasis in Compensation work required
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
CCP Certification preferred
SHRM – PHR/SPHR Certification Preferred
