Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Compensation and Benefits Manager – Boca Raton, FL.

This position oversees the day-to-day functions of the Benefits & Compensation units within the Office of Human Resources. The selected candidate will manage the administrative process in the creation of new positions, reclassification of current positions, updating job descriptions, salary increases, allowances, one-time payments, maintenance of job profiles, and assignment adjustments or corrections. In addition to coordinating all Benefits for the University including insurance administration, benefits orientation for new hires, retirement plan administration. This position reports to the Associate Director of Compensation & Benefits.

Responsibilities for this position includes but is not limited to:

Compensation:

  • Conducting position analysis to determine appropriate position classifications and performs analysis of position descriptions to determine exempt and nonexempt status based on FLSA regulations.

  • Managing the development, implementation and administration of compensation programs.

  • Overseeing the facilitation of FLSA, Minimum Wage, and Workday HCM training and develops materials for the university community.

  • Supervising a team of six and serving as a mentor and coach for professional development opportunities.

  • Coordinating and monitoring the daily work assignments of the units to ensure optimal functioning of the area and developing streamlining processes for efficiencies as needed.

  • Performing Workday troubleshooting and guidance for compensation and position management related issues.

  • Monitoring the effectiveness of existing compensation practices and recommends changes that are cost-effective and consistent with compensation trends and organization objectives.

  • Ensuring compliance with federal, state and local compensation laws and regulations.

  • Managing internal and external salary and position surveys and functioning as the main point of contact for internal and external inquiries and salary surveys/comparisons.

  • Working with the Associate Director in utilizing compensation and market survey data systems for position and salary studies.

  • Oversees the participation in salary surveys and monitors salary survey data to ensure corporate compensation objectives are achieved.

  • Coordinating the testing, and maintenance of Workday business processes.

Benefits:

  • Providing leadership in the planning, design, and implementation of benefits policies and procedures for assigned workgroup.

  • Overseeing the collection, processing, workflow, and overall quality of benefits data in Workday, FRS and People First Systems.

  • Overseeing the handling of daily benefits admin duties, including enrollments, new hires, terminations, changes, leave of absence, disability, accident and death claims.

  • Ensure compliance of benefits plans with federal, state and local laws and regulations.

  • Provide ongoing analysis of trends, legislative changes and best practices within the benefits offerings.

  • Coordinating benefits policies and procedures with the state Division of Management.

  • Resolving complaints and concerns from vendors, customers, and other stakeholders.

  • Overseeing and troubleshooting the Workday integration with Dept. of Management Services & Division of Retirement as well as other vendors.

  • Assisting with the coordination of the annual Benefits fair.

  • Coordinating and supervising the EIB process for benefits deductions.

  • Providing one on one benefits and retirement counseling to all FAU employees & high-level potential employment candidates.

  • Developing training materials and conducting regular training to the university community on topics related to Compensation and Benefits.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and two (2) years of relevant experience; or an
associate’s degree and four (4) years of relevant experience required.
Benefits administration required.
Experience with compensation analysis, knowledge of compensation law, and compensation surveys required.
Knowledge in pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements both adopted
and pending affecting employee benefit programs, including ERISA, COBRA, ADA, SECTION 125,
Medicare, Social Security and DOL requirements preferred.

Salary:

$60,000 – $65,000 per year
