About OSRL:

The Emory University Office of Spiritual and Religious Life (OSRL) is a university-wide office charged with supporting Emory’s religious and philosophical diversity. We support spiritual communities, educate about spirituality and ethics in society and the world, provide pastoral care and opportunities to engage in service and social justice, and promote religious pluralism and interfaith engagement. The Dean of Religious Life works with chaplains, staff, and affiliates representing many traditions to support a diverse spiritual life program for Emory students, faculty, staff, alumni and the broader community.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

• Works closely with the Chief of Staff to coordinate OSRL communications and to plan communications cycles and strategies. Develops, manages, and cultivates a communications calendar that takes into account writing, design, printing, photography, videography, and distribution
• Publishes department newsletters, which includes monitoring affiliate, partner, and community communications for opportunities to cross-promote programming
• Ensures updating of OSRL websites and coordinates OSRL social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. May attend programs to gather photos and material for social media posts. Ensures up to date calendar postings and other campus publicity for OSRL programming
• Coordinates OSRL alumni and family communications throughout the year to keep constituencies informed and build meaningful relationships
• Drafts, circulates, edits, and coordinates the production of OSRL print materials including flyers, banners, signage, brochures, calendars, and giveaways
• Liaises with other university communicators to promote OSRL programs and services and to ensure alignment with best practices and university visual and style guidelines
• Manages subscription and distribution spreadsheets and lists
• Proposes creative ideas to tell the OSRL story and to increase the engagement of constituents across the university. Monitors and works to increase stakeholder engagement
• Manages OSRL photo and video galleries to gather archives and use effective imagery
• Develops reports, presentations, press releases, and forms as needed for various departmental programs and service
• Performs related responsibilities as required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three years of related experience, or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

• Effective communicator, both written and oral.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, and ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
• Strong working knowledge of social media platforms and social media scheduling tools.
• Proficiency in Adobe, Canva, or other graphic design programs.
• Awareness of diverse world religions and cultures, interfaith engagement, and social justice concepts preferred; higher education experience preferred
• Demonstrated creativity in the design of marketing, public relations and communications materials.
