Communications & Social Media Specialist

Position Summary:	Communications & Social Media Specialist will publish at least two posts a day on all your social media channels increasing reach and awareness of Sy Syms content to current students, alumni and prospective students. They’ll need to think ahead: create a content calendar for at least a week in advance. They’ll need to come up with creative and shareworthy content: highlighting faculty, student, and alumni success, and promoting events. They’ll need to be informed and updated by leadership and members of the department to know what is going on around Sy Syms and what is worth promoting (investigative journalist style). They’ll join the once-a-week cross campus editorial meetings and Everspring meetings to pitch content that will be published across YU. They’ll work closely with the department of marketing and communications at YU to promote Sy Syms across social media, external media, and paid advertisement.
Position Responsibilities:	Develop the Sy Syms newsletter to communicate with alumni Identify media opportunities for Sy Syms Dean and faculty Social media publishing – 50% Website and newsletter publishing – 20% Monitoring news trends that Syms can engage with on social media channels and in the media – 10% Identifying earned media opportunities with the YU PR agency – 20%
Experience & Education Background:	A minimum of two years of experience publishing social media content A minimum of two years in media relations
Skills & Competencies:	Very strong writing experience Collaborative with internal and external teams Experience with marketing data to drive decisions and results Familiarity with Drupal or WordPress
