About Student and Scholarly Services
Student and Scholarly Services provides student administration and services from recruitment and point of enquiry to graduation. This team also delivers wellbeing and scholarly services to students and staff.

About the Role
As the Communications Officer (Student Information), you will play a key role in supporting Student Life initiatives, particularly Academic Advising, Melbourne Peer Mentoring Program (MPMP), and Melbourne Plus, the University’s co-curricular recognition program, through providing student-facing communications.

You will work closely with the Communications and Engagement Specialist (Student Information) to deliver coordinated campaigns through a range of student-facing channels, to improve student awareness and engagement with these programs. Working to agreed production schedules and communications plans, you will deliver content that aligns to key program messages and key points in the student journey and promote the programs in real time through coverage and engagement at student life events.

Responsibilities include:

  • Deliver communications plans aligned to the strategies developed by the Communications and Engagement Specialist
  • Contribute to the creation of an annual communications plan
  • Ensure communications solutions align with the broader Student Life teams in SASS
  • Contribute to the development of key student-facing resources for advising and mentoring

About You
You will have excellent communication skills, with an ability to communicate with diverse students, stakeholders and client groups, both internally and externally. You will have strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to think creatively and work collaboratively with teams to solve business challenges.

You are highly organised with strong time management skills, including the ability to prioritise workloads. You also show initiative and flexibility, with a willingness to take on new challenges.

You are also results-focused with the ability to apply adaptive reasoning, sound judgement and critical thinking. You also manage issues and identify trends to support exceptional service delivery. 

You will also have:

  • A degree qualification with relevant experience; or extensive experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training 
  • Demonstrated experience and skills in supporting communication strategies to reach diverse audiences
  • Proven ability to use a range of communication channels, especially utilising digital media and technologies
