Communications Officer

Position description

Europe Jacques Delors is looking for a full-time (38 hours/week) Communications Officer (F/M/D), based in Brussels. The position is for an initial period of 8 months, to be filled as soon as possible, with the possibility of extension.

Your tasks:

  • Implement EJD’s communications strategy; ensure a strong visibility of the think tank and its experts during the election year; and ensure that the research and analysis reaches our target groups;
  • Work closely with the Director-General, Director of Studies and Policy Analysts to communicate on our policy areas and projects;
  • Manage the ongoing development and production of our existing podcast series, Re-Thinking Europe, including scripting, guest coordination, editing and promotion; coordinate the work with our communications agency;
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with journalists and the media and act as the main point of contact for media enquiries and interview requests;
  • Draft communications materials to promote the think tank’s research and activities;
  • Write and edit content for the EJD newsletter, website, and social networks;
  • Disseminate research, promote events and engage in relevant conversations with multipliers;
  • Analyse and keep track of the impact of EJD’s communications through regular activity reports and presentations to the team.

Qualifications

  • Master diploma in journalism, communications, political science or any related field;
  • Proven work experience (min. 2-3 years) in any fields related to policy, communications and/or public relations (a must);
  • Previous experience with think tanks is considered an asset;
  • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to create engaging content;
  • Experience with media relations, journalists and managing press inquiries;
  • Proficiency in social media platforms and content creation;
  • Excellent organisational abilities, strong time management skills and the ability to respond to urgent tasks;
  • Advanced knowledge of the European Union, its institutions, and legislative processes; good knowledge of the European Green Deal and sustainability issues is considered a plus;
  • Full professional proficiency in English and French (a must); German is considered an advantage;
  • A strong spirit of initiative, engagement for the topics of Europe Jacques Delors and an ability to work both autonomously and in a team.
