About Student and Scholarly Services
Student and Scholarly Services provides student administration and services from recruitment and point of enquiry to graduation. This team also delivers wellbeing and scholarly services to students and staff.

About the Role
As the Communications and Engagement Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting the Student Life initiatives, particularly Academic Advising, Melbourne Peer Mentoring Program (MPMP), and Melbourne Plus, the University’s co-curricular recognition program.

You will work collaboratively with the Student Life team in Student and Scholarly Services to design and deliver coordinated communications strategies and campaigns designed to improve student awareness and engagement with these programs. You will support the delivery of key aspects of Advising and Mentoring through the Student and Adviser Portals, integrating with key relationship management and student information systems.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop student communications strategies to promote Student Life initiatives
  • Work collaboratively across teams in SASS to promote Student Life initiatives in the Onboarding journey
  • Drive the process to generate an annual communications plan that it’s integrated into the broader communications plans
  • Deliver advising and mentoring content through the Student Portal

About You
You will have excellent communication skills, with an ability to communicate with diverse students, stakeholders and client groups, both internally and externally. You will have strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to think creatively and work collaboratively with teams to solve business challenges.

You are highly organised with strong time management skills, including the ability to prioritise workloads. You also show initiative and flexibility, with a willingness to take on new challenges.

You are also results-focused with the ability to apply adaptive reasoning, sound judgement and critical thinking. You also manage issues and identify trends to support exceptional service delivery.  

You will also have:

  • A degree qualification and substantial relevant experience; or extensive experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training 
  • Demonstrated experience and skills in supporting communication strategies to reach diverse audiences
  • Proven ability to use a range of communication channels, especially utilising digital media and technologies, to engage customers and stakeholders in innovative and challenging initiatives
