COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR, School of Architecture and Planning (SA+P)-Morningside Academy for Design (MAD), to join a busy, high-profile office responsible for producing communications and coordinating projects for MAD , a newly launched academy in the SA+P.  Will help develop, execute, and drive the success of MAD’s communications plans and the diverse departments, programs, labs, and centers under its umbrella; create communications for multiple media, including web, social, email, print, video, and live presentations; play a leading role in developing strategic communications and carrying out day-to-day operations; and support the planning and staffing of events as needed.  


Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree; three years’ experience in a communications position that includes developing web content, editing, writing, and working closely with graphic designers and information systems programmers; experience writing, researching, and interviewing for both targeted and wide distribution; excellent organizational and oral and written communication skills; proficiency with modern publishing and web-based communication methods/tools; experience managing a website using a content management system and managing social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign and Photoshop.  Must be able to juggle multiple projects; manage and meet competing deadlines with attention to detail and accuracy; work independently and collaboratively as part of a high-performing team; copyedit written work for grammar, spelling, accuracy, format, and tone; accept and integrate constructive feedback; and translate complex concepts and projects into compelling, clear materials suitable for a general audience.  PREFERRED:  master’s degree; background/education in architecture, urban planning, the arts, or design; experience within a college/university setting; knowledge of design, photography, and/or video or television production; experience organizing and managing events; and MIT experience.  Job #21891-7
