COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT, Media Lab (part-time, 20 hrs/wk.), to assist the communications team with daily tasks. Will edit and proofread routine website content, newsletters, blog posts, social media posts, and other text and collateral; assist the lead designer with basic design tasks; assist with coordinating press visits and escorting film crews/press; interface with vendors; manage day-to-day spending for the group, e.g., reconciling expenses, reimbursements, purchase orders and contracts, independent contractor coordination, financial review and control reports, etc.; monitor use of MIT procurement and travel credit cards; and perform other administrative tasks as needed.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; three years’ administrative, office, or related experience; excellent interpersonal, time-management, project management, proofreading, and verbal and written communication skills; comfort speaking to groups; ability to relay basic information about the Media Lab’s work to others; attention to detail; editorial skills and ability to adapt to different voices and styles; basic desktop publishing and graphic design proficiency (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator); willingness to learn on the job and wear many hats; experience and/or interest in science, technology, arts, and/or design communications. PREFERRED: bachelor’s degree; excellent collaboration skills and desire to contribute to and be part of a team; ability to build productive working relationships with a wide range of people in a highly diverse and international environment; tact and good judgment with confidential information; experience with basic video editing and production (PremierePro, AfterEffects, QuickTime, YouTube), social media management and analytics tools (Hootsuite, Sprout Social, etc.), web analytics (Google Analytics), Mailchimp and/or Salesforce, CSS/HTML, Trello, Airtable, Slack Google Suite, and/or other project management platforms.
