Communications and Outreach Program Operations Analyst

Lawrence Berkeley National Lab’s (LBNL ) Building Technology Urban Systems Division has an opening for a Communications & Outreach Program Operations Analyst to join the team.

 

IMPEL stands for Incubating Market-Propelled Entrepreneurial-Mindset at the Labs and Beyond. IMPEL is a program based at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and funded by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Building Technologies Office. IMPEL provides early stage building technology innovators with pitch coaching and business plan training, and pipeline access to incubators and accelerators. In this exciting role, you will support the operation to help plan, organize, coordinate, and execute IMPEL’s communications-related project activities, and fulfill the overall program goal of bringing cutting-edge technologies to market.

 

What You Will Do:

  • Support general pre-work of communications-related activities and coordinating with the ETA Communications Office will help develop outreach strategies to recruit a new Innovator cohort. Supports the operations of the internal program team and a marketing subcontractor to help coordinate outreach activities and timelines based on program goals, writing copy, and designing outreach collateral. 
  • Interact with virtual Innovator community engagement by updating the program website, virtual Slack community, and LinkedIn pages.
  • Assist with developing ideas for, draft, and format blog posts.
  • Provide program administrative and planning support by helping build graphics for slide decks, visuals and content as well as Excel charts
  • Assist with developing and maintaining program indices and organizational structures to organize program files and data.
  • Working within ETA Communication Office and Lab requirements will support internal communications including updating the IMPEL distribution list, tracking and updating Innovator progress (technology type, program pipeline, demographics, alumni surveys, success stories, and post-event surveys), and tracking and updating program metrics.
  • Support and maintain a system for social media post requests; develop original visual content for social media posts, printed collateral, and program events.
  • Ensure consistent branding and written messaging across marketing collateral, working in collaboration with ETA Communications Office.
  • Assist with identifying opportunities for IMPEL to present at events, and gain visibility.
  • Support and prepare quarterly report presentations to the program sponsor and other stakeholders
  • Report on program achievements through creative write-ups and articles, published on the program website
  • Track and monitor program deliverables using gantts and other program tools

 

What is Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree desired and a minimum of 1-3 years of related experience 
  • Experience with communications and design tools (Google suite, Canva, iMovie or other video editing software, Constant Contact, etc.)
  • Experience in content development for newsletters, blogs, social media, and/or short promotional videos
  • Strong communication skills /(both verbal and written)
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and as an independent contributor. ​​Including the ability to work successfully in an interdisciplinary environment and to collaborate successfully with colleagues and others from a diverse set of fields
  • Takes initiative to present new ideas and execute on them
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize efficiently
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize projects and tasks
  • Creative thinker, with graphics and writing skills

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with project planning, scheduling and budgeting.

  • This is a full-time career appointment, exempt (monthly paid) from overtime pay.
