The Department of Economics is looking to recruit a motivated and experienced communications events professional to join the External Engagement Team to cover a period of maternity leave. Reporting to the External Engagement Manager, the role holder will be responsible for all the operations of the Oxford University Business Economics Programme(OUBEP) courses and events, and will play an important role, working with delegates, faculty, and senior colleagues to ensure the successful running and organisation of all the events.

The role holder who will work closely with the Department of Economics’ support team and Faculty staff as well as with the University’s Public Affairs Directorate and with Social Sciences Divisional staff with responsibility for communications and Development.  The post holder will also need to build strong working relationships with external stakeholders, importantly the OUBEP Steering Committee.

The role would suit an enthusiastic team playing individual who has the proven ability to develop a strong public profile for a department/small organisation, improve our communications and marketing strategy as well as co-ordinating and delivering first-class, high profile events.

The ideal candidate must be educated to degree level (or demonstrable equivalent capability) and have experience in communications and events planning roles with a willingness to work flexibly on different projects as required, and ability to occasionally work outside normal office hours.  Candidates must possess excellent organisation, IT and communication skills; be able to engage with colleagues and key stakeholders from all levels of an organisation and have experience and understanding of developing and updating websites and social media accounts. Furthermore, applicants must have experience in organising and facilitating high-profile professional events; and possess excellent attention to detail, with an ability to manage a busy workload including managing projects and working to tight deadlines.

Experience working with management committees and an understanding of academic research and teaching gained from working within the University of Oxford or other collegiate universities, would be an advantage.

It is important for the role holder to be flexible and adaptable, OUBEP Operations Coordinator is expected to be able to contribute to the growth and development of the Department of Economics.
