Clinical Specialist

Primary Purpose: The overall purpose of this position is to support the planning and delivery of a high-quality Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) program.  The primary dimensions associated with this position are in the areas of:  1) MPT neurological clinical teaching and support of faculty in the development and implementation of high quality curriculum and 2) program administrative support including development, implementation and evaluation of new neurological-focused clinical placements. This temporary position works independently, as part of an administrative team and in close collaboration with the Director and Academic Lead Clinical Education and Community Affairs.

Nature of Work: Reporting to the Director of the School of Rehabilitation Science (Master of Physical Therapy Program), this position supports the MPT program with special emphasis on contributions to MPT neurological teaching and teaching support; working with other Clinical Specialists to support MPT clinical placement student supervision with neurological populations, and administrative assistance related to clinical placement evaluation.

Typical Duties or Accountabilities:

MPT Clinical Teaching/Teaching support:

• Works with the Director to coordinate and deliver delegated MPT neurological clinical teaching and learning activities. Specifically, coordinating and teaching within all neurological MPT courses (i.e. Neurology Assessment and Treatment; Advanced Neurology) for the 2024-2025 academic year

New Clinical Placement Development, Implementation & Evaluation:

• Works with the Director, Academic Lead Clinical Education and Community Affairs and other Clinical Specialists to support development, implementation and evaluation new MPT student placement opportunities with neurological populations.

PT Program and School Admin related:

• Works with the Director and faculty to support evaluation of new student placement opportunities with neurological populations
• Other assigned administrative tasks relate to MPT program specific to neurological curriculum and neurological-focused student placements

Education: Entry to practice physical therapy degree. 

Experience:

• A minimum of 8 years of clinical experience as a physical therapist working with populations with neurological conditions.
• A minimum of 5 years teaching experience of neurological content in a PT entry to practice program.
• Project management, quality improvement, and/or program administration experience in healthcare and/or education settings would be an asset.

The position is in scope of the Administrative and Supervisory Personnel Association (ASPA).

Status: Term – 14 months with the possibility of extension or becoming permanent

Full Time Equivalent (FTE): 0.6

Salary: The salary range, based on 1.0 FTE, is $66,030.00 – 103,174.00 per annum. The starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
