About the Role

This is a fully funded project for a doctor in training interested in a career in academic dermatology to undertake a PhD.   The appointed clinical fellow will contribute to a team project on the Human Paediatric Skin Atlas which will involve recruitment of patients, patient and public engagement through the Centre of the Cell and use of cutting-edge transcriptomic technology to examine the sebaceous gland in normal skin and a rare, debilitating disorder called steatocystoma multiplex, giving insights into common disorders involving the sebaceous gland and discovering new therapeutic targets for improved patient care. 

About You

You will be a doctor in training interested in a career in Dermatology who has ideally completed core medical training or is currently in a Dermatology training post.   You will be organised, able to prioritise your workload and have excellent communication skills.  You will be interested in data analysis and acquiring skills such as coding and bioinformatics.

About the Institute

The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is one of six Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. The Institute comprises approximately 350 staff based in four academic Centres and one Public Engagement Centre, and supports a combined total of c750 postgraduate research and taught students. The Institute aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service.

The post is based at the Whitechapel Campus in London. It is full time (35 hours per week) fixed term appointment for 3 years. The starting salary will be £51,017 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
