Job Summary

This is a 100% one-time hire limited appointment for one year, starting from the date of hire.

The CRC will oversee operations of a multi‐level, evidence‐based pilot trial to increase take‐up of safety net benefits among low-income families in California. The goal of this study is to develop and test the feasibility of solutions to achieve health equity by increasing safety net benefit take-up.

The CRC will work under the supervision of the lead Principal Investigators to manage the day-to-day operations of the project. Key activities will include interacting with the Community Advisory Board, creating interview surveys and scripts, supervising participant recruitment and enrollment, scheduling and conducting participant interviews, ensuring the quality of data collection in the field, responding to inquiries from study sites and participants, dispensing cash incentives, connecting participants with tax assistance resources, managing the project database, ensuring compliance with all research and human subjects protocols, and providing regular updates to the lead investigators.
Duties may include: manage and report on study results; create, clean, update, and manage databases and comprehensive datasets and reports; manage Investigator’s protocols in the Committee on Human Research online system, as well as renewals and modifications of protocol applications and the implementation of new studies; participate in the review and writing of protocols to ensure institutional review board approval within University compliance; help assure compliance with all relevant regulatory agencies; oversee study data integrity; implement and maintain periodic quality control procedures; interface with departments to obtain UCSF approval prior to study initiation; maintain all regulatory documents; report study progress to investigators; participate in any internal and external audits or reviews of study protocols.

Department Description

The Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies (PRL-IHPS) is an organized research unit within the School of Medicine. The primary purposes of the Institute are to advance knowledge of health services and health policies through basic and applied research; to contribute to the solution of health and social problems through the application of research findings to health policy issues at the national, state, and local levels.

Required Qualifications

• HS graduation and sufficient experience and demonstrated skills to successfully perform the assigned duties and responsibilities; and/or equivalent experience/training
• Attention to detail; strong interpersonal skills; excellent, effective verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with subjects, team members, other departments and outside institutions; and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while working with a diverse subject population.
• Ability to work well independently, complete projects in a timely manner, and prioritize multiple projects to ensure the completion of essential tasks by deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience and/or interest in working with economically disadvantaged and vulnerable populations
• Knowledge of safety net programs for low-income populations
• Experience enrolling and interviewing study subjects
• Ability to conduct participant interviews in Spanish
• Experience with cleaning, linking, and analyzing data using STATA
• Experience with cleaning, linking, and analyzing data using STATA
• Experience with Qualtrics or a similar survey software
• Fluency in the usage of Committee of Human Research (CHR) online iMEDris system for submission, renewal, and modification of protocols through this system.
• Understanding of patient population to create rapport and a relationship, while also giving insight to what is realistic and appropriate for patient participation.
• Experience applying the following regulations and guidelines:
• Bachelor’s degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
