The Department of Pediatrics, Division of General Academic Pediatrics, is seeking a qualified candidate for a Clinical Research Assistant position. The incumbent’s work will focus on a few areas:1) Immigrant and refugee health. 2) Dating violence and intimate partner violence prevention. 3) Work both within pediatric primary care and community-based settings. 4) Supporting people experiencing substance use disorder, particularly opioid use disorder.

Specific tasks include data collection at community sites, data entry, assistance with tracking participants, literature searches, transcription, maintenance of online surveys, development of research protocols, facilitation of study recordkeeping, implementing dating violence interventions, conducting interventions, facilitating community collaboratives, and collaboration with other researchers. Additionally, interest in working with immigrant and refugee communities is essential. Further, being fluent in Spanish (spoken and written) is strongly encouraged as much of the research is occurring in both Spanish and English.

The clinical research assistant (CRA) will be responsible for collecting data for one or more projects located in the greater Pittsburgh region. Prior research experience is desired, including experience with qualitative coding platforms, EndNote, Excel, MS Word, and Access, as well as experience conducting literature reviews, data entry, database development, and manipulation. The incumbent must be willing to travel to community sites in the western Pennsylvania region. Experience working with community-based organizations, including community health and knowledge of how to collect local data, is of particular interest. Solid interpersonal communication skills, knowledge of children and adolescent health, and prior experience working in community-based and clinic-based settings are a plus. Prior experience working with immigrant and refugee communities is also recommended.

One year of relevant administrative experience is required. This position may require flexibility with shift/hours. This is a hybrid position. This position has the ability to work from home, but must also be able to travel out in the community, or potentially be onsite in the office. A valid driver’s license is required. It is the expectation that the incumbent will use their own vehicle required for local travel and the owner of the vehicle must carry automobile liability insurance. The owner’s automobile liability insurance coverage is primary coverage. The University’s automobile liability insurance policy provides excess coverage only. Equivalent relevant work experience may be substituted for degree requirement. PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record Check will be required prior to the start of employment. Bachelor’s degree with one year of relevant administrative experience is required.
