Description
Position Summary
To demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of contract principles, federal regulations, laws, and UAB policy and operating procedures. To serve as liaison to the UAB Offices of Industry Engagement and Sponsored Programs in the negotiation of confidentiality agreements (CDAs), contracts, and amendments related to the conduct of clinical research activities. To identify conflicts of interest, legal, IP, and business/financial risk. To maintain familiarity with appropriate Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and regulations.
The position will focus on clinical research finance such as industry-funded clinical research both pre and post-award including financial management, development and execution of budgets, contracts, and service agreements, as well as invoicing and reconciliation. The position will also focus on supporting post-award research activities including all funding sources such as industry, non-profit, and governmental funding sources including budgets, compliance, invoicing, reconciling, and reporting.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists in managing accounts across studies as needed.
- Works with sponsors/study team to arrange required training and meetings.
- Assists in formulating and implementing the goals for the operation of the research program.
- Assists in preparing, developing, reviewing, and negotiating industry and sponsored research clinical trial budgets for consistency with UAB policies and operating procedures.
- Maintains the study’s compliance with institutional requirements.
- Serves as liaison to the UAB Offices of Industry Engagement and Sponsored Programs in negotiating confidentiality agreements (CDAs), contracts, and amendments related to the conduct of clinical research activities.
- Identifies and mitigates business/financial risk through working with physicians/faculty, divisions, legal, and/or other Departments.
- Conducts literature reviews.
- Assesses and determines solutions for operational shortcomings of protocols.
- Assists colleagues in identifying efficiencies and improving processes.
- Identifies and obtains funding sufficient to successfully execute clinical research as applicable.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Annual Pay Range: $47,665 – $61,965
Qualifications
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirements.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Experience
- Experience with budget and contract negotiations, invoicing, and reconciliation.
- Experience with Oncore, Oracle, and BA is highly desirable.
- Preferred degrees in Science, Business, or Medical Related.
